About

Helping hands, done properly.

Garden Route Hands is a locally run booking platform that connects households along the Garden Route with vetted, approved Workers, for cleaning, garden work, general labour, and the everyday jobs that keep a home running.

Who We Are

Garden Route Hands is a locally run booking platform that connects households along the Garden Route with vetted, approved Workers for the everyday jobs that keep a home running, cleaning, garden work, helping hands, and general labour.

We are based in George, Western Cape, and we are building something straightforward: a trustworthy way to find good help, with the small details handled, payment, scheduling, communication, and a layer of protection for when things go wrong.

Why We Exist

Finding someone reliable to help around the house should not be a leap of faith. Most people find Workers through word of mouth, hope for the best, and have no real recourse when something goes missing or gets broken. Workers, on the other hand, often have no consistent way to find clients, get paid on time, or build a reputation.

Garden Route Hands sits in the middle and takes care of both sides. We vet the people who join our platform, we handle the bookings and the payments, and we offer Clients a goodwill contribution of up to R5,000 per booking towards the repair or replacement of items accidentally damaged by a Worker, so a bad day does not have to become a financial loss.

What We Do

We offer a managed booking service for household help, residential and outdoor cleaning, garden and property assistance, general labour, helping-hand work, and (where available) pet and animal assistance.

We are not a labour broker, an employer, or an open marketplace. We are a curated platform: every Worker is interviewed, vetted, and approved before they are allowed to receive bookings. Clients book through the website, pay through PayFast, and we take it from there.

Our service categories grow as we grow. If you need something that we do not yet offer, tell us, it helps us shape what we add next.

How It Works

Step 1. Choose your service. Pick the type of work you need on www.gardenroutehands.co.za, the date, and how long you need someone for.

Step 2. Enter your address and details. Add anything we should know up front: gate codes, pets, parking, equipment provided.

Step 3. Pay through the platform. Secure online payment through PayFast confirms your booking request.

Step 4. We assign a Worker. We match your booking to an approved Worker who is available, suitable, and close by.

Step 5. Worker accepts and you get the details. Once the Worker confirms, you receive their name and the final booking details.

Step 6. Service day. Your Worker arrives at the agreed time and gets the job done.

Step 7. Tell us how it went. Feedback helps us keep standards high and helps good Workers get more work.

Our Workers

The Workers on our platform are independent contractors who have chosen to receive bookings through Garden Route Hands. They are not our employees and they run their own work, but they are part of a vetted community that we stand behind.

Our vetting process includes identity verification, reference checks, review of supporting documents, and interviews. Only approved Workers may receive bookings.

We pay Workers fairly and on time, we expect Clients to treat them with respect, and we will end an account on either side that makes that impossible.

What Makes Us Different

Vetted, not just listed. We do not let anyone onto the platform. Every Worker is screened and interviewed before they can take a booking.

A managed platform, not a free-for-all. We assign Workers to Bookings ourselves, based on availability, suitability, and proximity. You do not have to scroll through profiles or chase quotes.

A goodwill promise when things go wrong. If a Worker accidentally damages your property, Garden Route Hands will, at its discretion, contribute up to R5,000 per booking towards repair or replacement. This is a voluntary goodwill contribution paid by Garden Route Hands; it is not insurance, and we recommend that you also keep your own household contents insurance in place.

Local. We live and work in the Garden Route. We know the area, we know the people, and we are easy to get hold of when something needs sorting out.

Where We Work

We are launching in George and surrounding suburbs, with planned expansion to other towns along the Garden Route, including Mossel Bay, Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna, and Plettenberg Bay.

If you are outside our current service area and want us in your town, let us know. Demand is a big part of how we decide where to expand next.

Our Commitments

To Clients: a vetted Worker, on time, paid for upfront with no surprise charges, and a real human to speak to when something is not right.

To Workers: respectful clients, fair pay, prompt payment, and a platform that treats them as the independent professionals they are.

To both sides: clear Terms, a real complaints process, and a Privacy Policy that takes POPIA seriously.
